Game Off: School Postpones Football Game Until Monday
Parades, GRJFA games canceled due to wicked forecast
Scratch that good news.
Wintery weather caused all homecoming events — including an on-the-field battle with rival Hawthorne — to be canceled or postponed by Saturday afternoon.
After an initial blitz of canceling, there was some some initially that some of the weekend's anticipated events would go on.

An announcement at the snowy, but well-attended football game at Glen Rock High School changed all that.
The Panthers (6-1) will instead take on rival Hawthorne (6-1) on Monday... we hope.

The district sent the following message to parents at 1:45 p.m. today:
Due to inclement weather, the homecoming football game has been postponed until Monday, October 31 (time is TBD). All other homecoming activities at the high school, including the dance, are also POSTPONED. Dates and times are to be determined.
The GRHS Homecoming Parade and the borough's annual Halloween Parade were also canceled Friday due to a predicted 4-6 inches of snow.
The final decision to postpone the homecoming game was announced just after 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon after the district's website, 3 hours earlier had said the game would be played.
Canceled: Halloween Parade
Organizers Friday red-lighted the annual Halloween Parade scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
Debbie Kilgore, a WICS member who helped organize the children's march around the Downtown Business District, said Friday that the event had been canned due to weather.
"Trick or treat bags will still be distributed at Glen Rock Digital Photo from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with professional portraits available," Kilgore said. "Trick or treating is still welcomed at merchant's windows bearing the orange pumpkin [flyers.]"
Canceled: Junior Football
The Glen Rock Junior Football Association canceled all flag football games for Saturday. They made the announcement via Facebook just after 8 a.m.
Canceled: Central School Haunted House
School District Director of Communications Andrea Tahinos in an email Tuesday afternoon said that Central School's Haunted House had been canceled for the remainder of Saturday.
Moved: Newcomers and Neighbors Club Tailgate
The Glen Rock Newcomers and Neighbors Club tailgating event planned for before the game at a member's home was moved to the Glen Rock Inn in anticipation of the frosty weather.
