Homeless Man Allegedly Starts Fire In Ridgewood Business: Police

An elderly homeless man allegedly started a fire inside a Ridgewood business Sunday, police said.

The owner of a commercial property on Wilsey Square reported that an elderly homeless man had started a small fire in the building’s first-floor hallway, police said.

The man, who was described as having gray hair and a long gray beard, wore soiled clothes and left the property before police officers could find him, authorities said.

The property was not damaged, police said, and detectives are investigating the incident.
