Man used papers to create a small fire Sunday, police said.

An elderly homeless man allegedly started a fire inside a Ridgewood business Sunday, police said.

The owner of a commercial property on Wilsey Square reported that an elderly homeless man had started a small fire in the building’s first-floor hallway, police said.

The man, who was described as having gray hair and a long gray beard, wore soiled clothes and left the property before police officers could find him, authorities said.
