Library Hosts Kindergarten, Kindergarten Plus Registration in March

The Glen Rock School District has begun its registration process for children entering kindergarten in September 2011.

KindergartenKindergarten registration for all incoming students will be held at the Glen Rock Public Library on Thursday, March 10, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday, March 11, from 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m. No pre-registration is necessary.

The district is requesting that parents bring original proof of residency and birth date. School administrators and nursing personnel will be on hand to answer questions.
Kindergarten registration is open to all resident children who will turn five years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2011. Two proofs of residency are required (e.g., driver’s license, rent or mortgage receipt, utility bill, tax bill, etc.) along with proof of identity and age (e.g. birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport.)

Kindergarten orientation meetings will be scheduled before the opening of school; updated information will be posted on the district website.
Kindergarten PlusThe Glen Rock Community School will hold Kindergarten Plus registration for the 2011-12 school year in conjunction with regular kindergarten registration.
The Kindergarten Plus program extends a child’s half day of kindergarten to a full school day. The program supports the work of the Glen Rock School District and its kindergarten curriculum through enrichment activities including language experiences, science and nature projects, dramatics, free play, physical activities, games, music and more. A certified teacher who is assisted by experienced classroom aides runs the program. If the weather is appropriate, children spend time outdoors each day. Field trips and special programs are also part of the program. Transportation is provided between the program and each child’s home school.
Children must be enrolled in the Glen Rock Public School’s kindergarten to enroll in Kindergarten Plus. A program brochure and registration forms can be downloaded from the Kindergarten Plus page of the district website at www.glenrocknj.org. Families should bring the completed forms to registration along with the registration fee, payable by cash, check, Master Card or VISA.
