Louise Bateman, 92, Owned Company That Invented Bake-In Pie Spatula

She was a professional seamstress.

Louise Bateman, 92, of Ridgewood, died Monday, Nov. 9.

Born in West Nyack, N.Y., Mrs. Bateman had been a resident of the Village of Ridgewood for 68 years. She was the owner of Shera Corporation, the inventor of the Bake-In Pie Spatula, and was had been a professional Seamstress for more than 30 years in Ridgewood.

She was a former member of the Brownstone Quilters, was an outstanding artist of paintings, ceramics and crafts, and was a devoted animal lover.

She was married for 49 years to her loving husband, William, who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her son, Wayne.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Katzman (Larry) of Ringwood and Sandra Bateman of Ridgewood, a grandson Todd LeBart (Anne), two great-grandchildren Grace and Patrick, and her niece Linda Levin.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to the ASPCA would be appreciated.
