Prosecutors presented witnesses and evidence saying that between 10:30 p.m. on March 5 and 1 a.m. on March 6: "Tung made his way from his home in New York City to Teaneck, NJ, entered Robert Cantor’s home, led Mr. Cantor to the basement bedroom, shot him in the back of the head with a .380 caliber handgun, and then set Mr. Cantor’s body, the bed, bedroom and house on fire and fled the scene."
Tung actually had been convicted of the killing in 2016, but due to trial errors, an appeals court ordered a retrial in 2019, the Associated Press reported.
