Tropical Storm Isaias hit Glen Rock bringing rain, dangerous wind gusts and power outages, the effects of which have not been seen since Superstorm Sandy. Police, Fire and DPW personnel were fully mobilized and responded to emergency conditions throughout the borough. During the height of the storm and immediately thereafter police officers responded to 130 reports of emergency conditions with a response from firefighters required on 29 emergencies. A total of 11 homes were struck by trees and numerous vehicles damaged. No injuries resulted from any of these conditions.
DPW crews have been deployed to clear trees, limbs and debris, however, in many cases conditions cannot be attended to until PSE&G and out of state Utility Crews are able to make conditions safe due to many live wires which are down. At several of the most hazardous locations police personnel have been placed on standby due to numerous persons who have attempted to drive or walk around police line tape and barricades risking electrocution.
