Men Arrested For Selling Candy Without A Permit: Ridgewood Police Blotter

A Ridgewood man was arrested for trying to steal a bike from the train station, police said.

  • A 38-year-old Ridgewood man was arrested Jan. 29 and charged with criminal attempt, theft of moveable property and possession of burglary tools after Patrolman Raymond Tarino him use burglary tools to remove a locked bicycle from the train station fence, police said. The man was transported to headquarters, processed and served with a complaint summons.
  • A Tappan, New York resident reported a burglary and theft from a motor vehicle while it was parked at 44 Godwin Ave. Jan. 25, police said. The victim reported that when she return to her vehicle she discovered an unknown person shattered the window and removed a Lenovo laptop computer valued at $500, police reported. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
  • Patrolman Kyle Monton arrested a 43-year-old Waldwick resident on an active Warrant for a violation of a court order, police said. The man was processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail.
  • On Jan. 26, Patrolman Stephen Cummings responded to 52 Passaic St. to investigate a report of theft. Upon arrival it was reported an unknown man was observed to have entered the premise, went into an office a short time later and is believed to have removed two envelopes, one of which contained $200 in cash and the second envelope contained five checks, police said. The Detective Bureau is further investigating the incident.
  • On January 28, a Cambridge Road resident reported a man wrote a fraudulent check from his TD Bank account, police said. The victim reported the bank notified him a $200 check was written and cashed without his authorization, police said. The victim reported the bank fraud department is investigating the incident.
  • Lt. Brian Pullman and Ptl. Kyle Scarpa were approached while on patrol and notified of two men soliciting money for candy in the area of North Walnut Street Jan. 28, police said. The men were later found to be soliciting without a permit; they were identified and found to have active warrants for arrest out of Jersey City, police said. They were arrested at the scene and transported to Ridgewood Police headquarters, authorities said. Both arrestees were issued summons for Village of Ridgewood ordinance violations and Jersey City police responded and took the men into custody.
