Glen Rock Police Stop NJ Man From Jumping In Front Of Train
The 44-year-old Hoboken man was considering jumping in front of the train, but didn't want nearby kids to see him do it, police said.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A Hoboken man was distraught and crying, on the verge of jumping in front of a train at a stop in Glen Rock, police said. But officers were able to convince him not to.
Police were dispatched to the Boro Hall Station near Harding Plaza after reports of a man attempting to jump in front of a train, authorities said.
Three officers eventually found the 44-year-old, who was "crying and pacing back and forth stating he wanted to kill himself," police said. The man told officers he wanted to jump, but didn't want the kids in a nearby area to see him.

Officers spoke with the man for about 20 minutes, and were eventually able to "de-escalate the tense situation" and convinced him to "seek psychiatric assistance," police said.
The man was transported to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus.
