Officials Establish New Parking, Vehicle Height Rules To Protect Residents And Trees
Ordinance was approved this week.

Ridgewood officials approved and ordinance Wednesday that addresses parking issues and establishes vehicle height maximums for certain streets in the village.
The ordinance prohibits parking vehicles in spaces that are not marked as designated parking areas.
Vehicles may only park in areas that are marked with signs or parking paint.

Vehicles may not park in established areas in ways that can the public’s safety. Violators are subject to a fine of between $75 and $100.
The ordinance also establishes a maximum height for vehicles traveling on specific roadways.

Vehicles traveling on Garber Square between West Ridgewood Avenue and North Broad Street can be taller than 10’11” tall.
Vehicles traveling on West Glen Avenue between Oak Street and Union Boulevard can exceed 14’11” in height.
The restrictions apply to the vehicles and the loads, if any, they carry.
The ordinance was enacted to protect village trees. The fine for violating the ordinance is between $200 and $250.
