• Funk Band Founder From Ridgewood And Brown University Has Died At 51 (patch.com) — Ridgewood residents are remembering Chris Smith, a legally blind Ridgewood High School Class of 1993 graduate who went on to found the funk rock band Smit-Haus while at Brown University. Smith, who also played basketball and ran cross-country in high school, died last month at age 51, and his family is honoring the way he helped others "see a little better."
