Police Issue More Than A Dozen Summonses At Glen Rock Safety Checkpoint
The checkpoint is held a few times a year.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Police issued more than a dozen summonses to motorists for safety violations at a checkpoint held in cooperation with the state Motor Vehicle Commission Thursday, authorities said.
The checkpoint was conducted at Maple Avenue at Harding Plaza. It was designed to take hazardous vehicles off the road and promote safe driving, said Chief Dean Ackermann.
Fifteen summonses were issued to vehicles authorities said had safety violations, Ackermann said.

The checkpoint is held several times a year. The MVC instituted such checkpoints statewide after the safety testing portion for vehicle inspections was eliminated in 2010, police said.
"Despite this elimination of mechanical inspections, local law enforcement is still responsible to cite motorists for equipment out of compliance or failure to make repairs," the chief said.
