Police: Ridgewood Resident Stabbed During Disagreement

The victim and the man who stabbed him, Matthew Luis, knew each other, police said.

A 19-year-old Ridgewood resident was stabbed in the shoulder during a disagreement Wednesday night, police said.

Police responded to a South Pleasant Avenue home at approximately 9 p.m. on a report of a stabbing; authorities found the 19-year-old bleeding from the shoulder, police said.

Authorities determined that a disagreement between Matthew Luis, 20, of Mahwah, and the 19-year-old became an altercation. The 19-year-old was stabbed with a 4-inch long folding knife, police said.

Luis was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon unlawful purposes, police said.

Luis was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of posting $65,000 bail.
