BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bogota police officer shot a dog last Friday after it bit a teen girl, prosecutors said.

The dog survived the shooting, Angermeyer said.

The teen was treated and released to her family, he said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office notified the New Jersey Attorney General‘s Office about the incident, as they investigate officer-involved shootings. They then designated the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to lead the investigation.

The investigation is continuing, and no other information is available at this time, Angermeyer said.
