Residents Claim Spots For Independence Day Parade Days Ahead Of Time

Some people went out almost two weeks ago to make sure they get a good seat.

Don’t wait too much longer to claim a spot for Ridgewood’s annual Independence Day parade. You might not get one.

Hundreds of lawn chairs already line Maple Avenue in anticipation of the village’s annual Independence Day parade.

Some residents set out chairs as long as 13 days ago, 1010 WINS reported.

“There’s a strategy. We’ve done it every year,” Richard Lutzky told the radio station. ”You don’t want to be on the sunny side; you want to be on this side. You’ve got kids and grandchildren, and you don’t want them to bake in the sun, and you want to be together.”

The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at South Monroe Street and Godwin Avenue.
