Ridgewood Council To Vote On Development Ordinances Wednesday Despite Lawsuit

Ordinances would permit high-density, multi-family housing in the Central Business District.

The Village Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a series of sweeping reforms that could allow high-density housing to be built in the Central Business District.

The changes would give residents, especially older ones, the option of living in possible condominiums and other multi-unit locations, something the village needs more of, officials previously said.

Citizens for a Better Ridgewood, a grassroots non-profit, filed a lawsuit Aug. 10 seeking a reversal of the Planning Board’s June 2 decision to permit high-density multifamily housing in the district. Four of the five ordinances up for a vote would create new development zones in the district.
