Ridgewood Detectives Charge Serial Burglar With 5 Break-Ins

BREAKING: Adam M. Gross, 37, was arrested after police investigated several thefts to motor vehicles in driveways throughout the village.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Police charged a man with burglarizing several vehicles and stealing another one in the village recently.

Adam M. Gross, 37, of Bloomfield, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and five counts each of burglary and theft of moveable property, said Chief Jacqueline Luthcke.

Patrolman Brandon Donnelly investigated the theft of a Toyota Land Cruiser, which was left unlocked in a Crest Road driveway, Luthcke said. The vehicle was worth $10,000 and there was $1,200 worth of property in the vehicle, she said.

An unlocked vehicle on Spring Avenue was reported burglarized Sept. 4; a change purse with loose change and the vehicle's registration were missing, Luthcke said.

Another Spring Avenue resident reported their vehicle burglarized Sept. 5; loose change was taken from the vehicle, police said.

Police developed leads and detectives found the stolen Land Cruiser and Gross in Paterson, Luthcke said.

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables visible inside them.
