Ridgewood Girl Scout Beautifies Park For Community Service Project

Cate Becker hopes the work she has done encourages others to commune with nature more.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A Ridgewood Girl Scout beautified Maple Park for her community service project.

Cate Becker fixed benches, installed 11 signed that identify various kinds of trees in the park, and beautified the trails there, ensuring they are well-marked, Ridgewood park officials said.

Becker is a junior at Ridgewood High School. She completed the work as part of her community service project for her Girl Scout Gold Award. The project is designed to and get people to go outside more and to educate people about the health benefits of spending time with nature.

Ridgewood park and recreation officials said they encourage people to visit Maple Park, located near Graydon Pool, and see the work Becker did.
