Ridgewood HS Marching Band Wins Third Place in NJ State Championship

The RHSMB placed third out of 13 bands and won the caption award for Best Visual.

The Ridgewood High School Marching Band took 3rd place out of 13 bands in this past weekend’s USBands New Jersey State Championships at Rutgers University.

The band scored a 84.075 and won the caption award for Best Visual.

The band placed first on Sept. 27 at Pequannock HS, winning the award for Best Music, and placed first at JP Stevens High School, sweeping the caption awards for Best Music, Best Visual and Best Overall effect. They also placed first at Jackson Memorial’s “Showcase of Champions” on Oct. 11. The band won the caption awards for Best Music and Best Overall Effect, as well as the Esprit de Corps award.

The band, under the direction of John Luckenbill, marches 96 members for the 2014 season, competing in Group IVA competitively.

The RHSMB will continue their competitive season next weekend at one of the nation’s largest single day marching band competitions, the USBands Yamaha Cup, held at MetLife Stadium. The band will perform at 3:03 p.m.

The RHSMB will finish their competitive season at USBands National Championships on Sunday, Nov. 9, at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, PA.
