Ridgewood Implements Tougher Water Restrictions

Residents may water their lawns only two days a week, village says.

Ridgewood officials have implemented tougher water restrictions due to the limited rainfall and hot weather.

Residents may only water their lawns using automatic sprinkler systems two days a week. Residents living at odd-numbered addresses may irrigate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Residents living in even-numbers houses may irrigate on Wednesday and Sundays. Hand held hoses may be used at any time.

“The Stage 1restrictions that we have had in place have not moderated the demand enough to maintain reserves for firefighting and other emergencies,” said Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld. “I think we would all want to avoid going to Stage III restrictions and we can go a long way in that goal by abiding by these conservation measures.”
