RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A village man was arrested after he left threatening voicemails with Temple Emmanuel recently, police said.

The temple reported June 8 that it received two voicemail messages referencing Heinrich Himmler, the senior Nazi official responsible for conceiving and overseeing implementation of the Final Solution, the plan to murder the Jews of Europe, during the Holocaust in World War II.

Franklin Lakes Police investigated and arrested Jonathan Webman, 50, said Capt. John Bakelaar. Webman was charged with placing the calls, a bias crime of harassment, the captain said.

Webman may also be involved in leaving similar voicemails with Temple Emanul-El in Closter. Closter Police Chief Dennis Kaine said detectives are investigating those voicemail messages and trying to determine who may have left them.
