Ridgewood Men, 18 And 19, Arrested After Police Find 'Explosive Device'

Police said they found a jar with black powder and a fuse on Olivia Street on May 3.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Two village men and a juvenile were arrested earlier this month after police found an "explosive device" during an investigation.

Police found a glass jar with black powder and a fuse on Olivia Street May 3, the chief said.

Mason Corliss, 18 and Erdet Kaba, 19 were arrested as a result of the investigation, said Chief Jacqueline Luthcke.

Corliss was charged with knowingly possessing an explosive device, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Luthcke said. Kaba was charged with obstruction of justice and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Luthcke said.

Corliss and Kaba were taken to police headquarters, processed and released pending a court date.

A juvenile was arrested on Olivia Street and released to a parent, the chief said.
