Ridgewood Nursing Home Sees Spike In Coronavirus Cases
Family of Caring's Ridgewood facility reports 49 cases of the coronavirus among staff and residents, NJ Department of Health data shows.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Bergen County, along with much of the state, has seen a startling spike in coronavirus cases at long-term care facilities, and Ridgewood is no exception.
At long-term care facilities in the village, there are a total of 55 confirmed COVID-19 cases among both residents and staff, all but four coming from Family of Caring's Ridgewood location.
As of Jan. 4, the NJDOH reports two coronavirus cases among residents, and another two among staff members, at Ridgewood Center.

At Family of Caring, 19 residents and 32 staff members have tested positive, according to NJDOH data. Six residents have died from the coronavirus.
According to a Monday Patch report, there's been a 94 percent increase in outbreaks at Bergen County nursing homes in the last month-and-a-half.

Gov. Phil Murphy, in addressing the trend, admitted what the numbers clearly show.
"If you look, sadly, at fatalities, December to November, they're up dramatically," he said.

Ridgewood officials report 825 positive cases of the coronavirus in the village, a rise of 14 from the New Year's Eve report.
The latest report from the village came on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the state Department of Health reported 508 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Bergen County, bringing the county total to 49,480.
As coronavirus cases rise modestly in the village, Ridgewood Public Schools reported 11 new cases within the district which happened during winter break. The district is operating with a remote learning model until later this month.
