RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Police are warning residents of a fake parking ticket scam that is going around the village.

Scammers are sending out bogus parking tickets through emails. They contain fake parking ticket numbers and text that says the recipient is "required to appear in court."

They also contain a phone number people can call or hyperlinks they can click on to pay.

The department is reminding residents that "at no time would we or the Parking Enforcement Unit issue a summons" or notify alleged violators using email.

Residents who have been targeted or who have questions can call the police at 201-652-3900.
