Ridgewood Resident Becomes Youngest to Achieve Triple Crown of Open-Water Swimming

Ridgewood High School junior, Charlotte Samuels, became the youngest person to complete the Triple Crown today.

Ridgewood resident, Charlotte Samuels, 16, made history today by completing the Triple Crown of open-water swimming and being the youngest person to do so.

The Ridgewood High School junior completed her swim across the English Channel today after 20 hours, 44 minutes and 27 seconds, according to NorthJersey.com. Samuels had previously circumnavigated Manhattan in July and swam the Catalina Channel off California’s coast in August.

Samuels and her parents decided to travel to England to complete the challenge two weeks ago, NorthJersey.com reported. And after reaching the shore of France today, Samuels became the youngest person to complete the open-water swimming Triple Crown.

Ridgewood’s Superintendent of Schools, Daniel Fishbein, told NorthJersey.com that Samuels’ achievements will likely be recognized by the district when she returns.
