Ridgewood Resident Sentenced To Home Detention For His Role In Madoff Ponzi Scheme

Eric Lipkin must also perform 200 hours of community service.

A Ridgewood man was sentenced to nine months home detention and 200 hours of community service for his role in Bernie Madoff’s $17 billion Ponzi scheme.

Eric Lipkin pleaded guilty and agreed to forfeit $1.4 million, NorthJersey.com reported. Lipkin helped prepare fraudulent documents, his attorney said.

“To be part of the worst financial [scam] ever is an embarrassment that I will have to live with for the rest of my life,” he said. “I am going to do everything in my life to make amends.”

Lipkin pleaded guilty to his role in the scheme in 2011.
