Ridgewood Schools Get New Visitor Security System

The system is one of many improvements parents and students can expect to see when school begins Sept. 5.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A new district-wide security system is in place when students return to school Wednesday.

The system is located on the outside of every school building. Visitors will be required to swipe their driver's license through a reader before being buzzed in, Superintendent Daniel Fishbein said. Visitors then must report directly to a school's main office, or an entry station at Ridgewood High School, to get their visitor's badge.

Not going directly to an office could result in a building being placed on lockdown.
