Ridgewood Schools Seek Public Input In Superintendent Search

The deadline to submit a survey response is Friday.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The search for the next Superintendent of Schools in Ridgewood is underway, but it isn't too late to let the district know what you think is most important for a candidate.

A public input survey is still live for the district, but the Friday deadline is quickly approaching.

"The Ridgewood Board of Education has begun the process of recruiting superintendent candidates. By way of this letter and survey, we request your input in identifying the key qualities that you believe to be essential as we build the profile for our next superintendent, craft the interview questions, and identify the goals and objectives for our new superintendent," the district said in a letter.

The search comes after current Superintendent Daniel Fishbein announced his retirement earlier this year after 12 years at the helm of the district.

Ridgewood High School Principal Thomas Gorman began in an interim role starting Dec. 11.

A Ridgewood High School graduate, Gorman was in his ninth year as principal of the Village's only high school.

"While we value Dr. Fishbein's tenure with the Ridgewood School system and wish him the best on his retirement, we must look toward the future and continue the tradition of excellence Ridgewood is known for," said Michael Lembo, Ridgewood Board of Education President.
