Jacy Fang is one of just 300 students nationwide to receive the honor.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Jacy Fang is one of eight Bergen County Academies students named a Regeneron Scholar recently.

Fang, a Ridgewood resident, is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin Middle School. She is just one of 300 students chosen to receive the honor by the Society for Science & the Public.

The scholars — chosen from more than 1,700 applicants — were selected on the basis of their exceptional promise as scientists, excellent record of academic achievement and outstanding recommendations from teachers and other scientists, the Academies said in a statement.
