Ridgewood Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Maximilian Jerdee and Kristen Schretter are among the top 1 percent of the nation's high school students.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. - Ridgewood High School students Maximilian Jerdee and Kristen Schretter were named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program recently.

Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Semi-finalists are named based on their 2014 PSAT scores.

Jerdee and Schretter are two of only 15,000 high school students who are eligible to receive a $2,500 scholarship; 2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

About 1,000 corporate-sponsored scholarships will be provided by approximately 250 corporations and business organizations for finalists. . In addition, about 190 colleges and universities are expected to finance some 3,900 college-sponsored scholarships.

Scholarship recipients will be announced beginning in April.
