Roofer Injured In Fall, Bags Of Marijuana Found In Car: Police

A Glen Rock business reported an employee had falsified documents, causing the company to lose money, police said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A roofing contractor fell off a roof recently and police found several bags of marijuana during a traffic stop recently, authorities said.

April 23

9:55 a.m.: A Glen Rock medical funding group reported that a work from home employee in California had allegedly falsified payroll records and provided other false documentation causing losses to the company. A review by the detective bureau found that this is primarily a civil matter and not a criminal matter in New Jersey. The company was advised if criminal charges are possible they would need to pursue them in the State of California.

10:04 a.m.: Sgt. Bryan Scott and Officer Nick Onove responded to the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue on a 911 report of a man who had fallen off a roof, police said. Traffic safety supervisor, Sgt. Scott Mc Govern, who is also a certified paramedic, was in the area and responded to assist.

The victim, a 54-year-old Edison man working as a roofing contractor, had slipped and fallen from a roof, police said. The man regained consciousness and was able to communicate with officers and emergency personnel on scene, police said. He suffered an apparent head injury and was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson after being treated on scene by Valley Hospital paramedics and EMTs from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

1:01 p.m.: – A Glen Rock resident reported receiving a suspicious, and threatening, phone call, police said. Detective Lucas Doney was able to trace the phone call to a Rockland County address where both the Ramapo New York Police and Rockland County Sheriff’s Intelligence Unit spoke with the caller. An investigation determined that there was no credible threat towards the resident.

April 24

2:31 p.m.: A South Amboy man reported the theft of his cell phone while he was making a delivery to the Farmer’s Market on Prospect Street. Detectives are reviewing video surveillance images in an effort to identify a man who was seen taking the phone.

April 26

2:31 p.m.: During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Central Avenue, Officer John Tarantino arrested the driver, Stephen A. Noe, 19, of Saddle Brook, and passenger Maria Y. Mouridy, 20, of Glen Rock on drug-related charges, police said. This occurred after the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. Noe had several bags containing marijuana in the vehicle, as well as a bag with several hundred dollars in cash inside and alcohol, police said. Mouridy also had a small amount of marijuana in her possession, police said. Noe and Mouridy were arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Mouridy was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Noe was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol, police said. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of CDS while operating a motor vehicle, failure to signal a turn, obstructed windows, and violation of graduated driver’s license restrictions. Both were released on their own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court, police said.
