The flames were extending toward nearby trees, Glen Rock police said.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — When a snowplow caught fire amid Sunday's storm, Glen Rock firefighters came to the rescue, officials said.
Just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were sent to Rock Road. The engine of a private Dodge Ram snowplow was fully engulfed in fire, and the flames were extending toward nearby tree branches, according to police.
The operator of the plow, a 32-year-old Oakland man, said he had stopped driving once he saw smoke coming from the engine compartment.

A responding police officer first used a fire extinguisher to fight the blaze until firefighters could arrive and put it out. The snowplow was towed away.
The Glen Rock Department of Public Works salted the roads due to the extra ice left from fighting the fire, police said.
