Staff Members At 2 Glen Rock Schools Positive For COVID-19
Despite the positive tests, Superintendent Brett Charleston said Hamilton and Byrd Elementary Schools will be open Monday.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A staff member at Byrd Elementary and Hamilton Elementary School in Glen Rock tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced over the weekend.
In two letters, Superintendent Brett Charleston announced the positive tests on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, but noted that it wouldn't affect in-person learning on Monday.
At Byrd Elementary School, Charleston said the employee was last in the building on Wednesday, Nov. 4. At Hamilton, the staff member was in the building last on Monday, Nov. 2.

In both instances, contact tracers have already communicated with people who were identified as being in close contact with the staffer who tested positive.
Only those who came in close contact will operate virtually, Charleston said in both letters. Other schools throughout the district are not impacted by these tests, Charleston said.

"In full accordance with the New Jersey Department of Health guidelines, only affected Hamilton Elementary students and staff will operate virtually through Thursday, November 19th, 2020 and return to in-person instruction on Friday, November 20th, 2020. All remaining Hamilton Elementary students and classes, and all Central, Coleman, middle school and high school classes will remain on their regular schedule," said Charleston.
