Thousands Of Patients' Personal Records Taken From 3 Bergen County Hospitals
Patient names, Social Security numbers, and birth dates were reportedly 'passed on.'

A billing clerk reportedly passed on thousands of patients’ personal information at three Bergen County hospitals.
Federal authorities are investigating the data breach.
An employee with a company that handles billing for emergency department physicians at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, and Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, “illegally passed on” patients’ names, Social Security numbers, and birth dates, NorthJersey.com reported.

Holy Name and Englewood Hospital officials said 1,500 patients at each of the hospitals have been notified of the breach from Medical Management, the company that handles the billing, the website reported. Valley did not provide the website a number.
The breach was discovered in March and Medical Management is offering affected patients free credit protection services.
