The concept plans will be presented at a council meeting Oct. 14.
Residents will vote via a referendum in November whether or not the village should bond $15 million for the project. The bonded funds will be paid for ”principally — if not entirely — with parking revenues.”
The results of a recent independent study show that a five-level self-parking style garage would “satisfy most parking demands,” by adding 274 spaces to the 76 currently on Hudson Street. That option could cost between $11 and $12 million.
An automated garage — one with machines that would place vehicles into individual slots — would cost more, an estimated $17 to $24 million, but have more parking spaces. Automated parking deck could provide an additional 318 or 322 spaces, according to estimates.
