Valley Hospital A 'Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality'

The Valley Hospital was again designated as a "Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality" in a Human Rights Campaign index.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — For the third year in a row, the Valley Hospital is designated as a "Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality" in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) for 2020.

The Healthcare Equality Index is used by LGBTQ+ patients and their families to find facilities that provide equitable and inclusive care. Valley is 1 of only 495 in the Country to achieve this designation.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center was also given this distinction for 2020.

"Valley is proud to be designated as an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader for a third
consecutive year," said Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System. "It is our priority to deliver high-quality, inclusive healthcare and employment opportunities to all members of our community."

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, according to a news release.

"The health care facilities participating in the HRC Foundation's Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) are not only on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are also making it clear from their participation in the HEI that they stand on the side of fairness and are committed to providing inclusive care to their LGBTQ patients," said HRC President Alphonso David.

"We commend all of the HEI participants for their commitment to providing inclusive care for all."
