Valley Hospital Transformed Into Wedding Venue For Partners

Mark DeBenedectis told nurse Michelle Bower he wanted to marry his partner Greg before he underwent major surgery.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Valley Hospital made two men's wedding day very special.

Hospital employees and volunteers transformed part of the Terrace there into a wedding venue for Mark DeBenedectis and his partner Greg, the hospital said in a Facebook post.

DeBenedectis told nurse Michelle Bower his desire to marry Greg before he underwent major surgery.

Volunteers jumped into action and decorated the Terrace with flowers and hired a harpist to perform, a photographer to document the occasion and a chaplain to officiate the service.

"Thank you to the entire team for going above and beyond to fulfill this patient’s and family’s wish and for coordinating a special day they will never forget," the hospital said in the post.
