Watch Live: Ridgewood High School Graduation

UPDATE: Ridgewood's High School Graduation has been postponed until 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood High School officials will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast as thunderstorms could postpone the graduation ceremony for the class of 2020.

Scheduled for tonight at "approximately" 6 p.m., the graduation ceremony could be pushed to Thursday if weather becomes an issue, but a message on the school website indicates that the ceremony, as of now, is still on schedule.

"We are going to do everything in our power to have graduation tonight. We are watching the weather closely and will keep you posted. As of now, the Ridgewood High School graduation ceremony is scheduled for 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 8," the message read.

State coronavirus protocols mandate in-person ceremonies to cap attendance at 500 people. Ridgewood's graduating class includes 436 students, creating a problem when it comes to the inclusion of guests.

Gorman said the district requested permission to exceed the capacity, but the request was denied.

Guests, therefore, will not be allowed to attend the event, but the school will livestream the ceremony on YouTube.
