'We Are All Terribly Saddened' By Alex Modlin's Death: Ridgewood Superintendent
Modlin died Saturday, school officials confirmed.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — The district is "terribly saddened" by Alexander Modlin's death, said Superintendent Dr. Daniel Fishbein Monday.
Modlin, an eighth-grader at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, died Saturday night, Fishbein said.
"Please join me in offering your thoughts and prayers to the Modlin family in their time of sorrow," Fishbein said.

Counselors were on hand at all district buildings Monday to help students, teachers, staff, and parents deal with the tragedy.

Fishbein encouraged parents to listen to their children, not over react, and "accept his or her feelings" and answer questions "honestly according to your beliefs."
Fishbein encouraged parents to call their child's school if they need assistance with their child.
"We are all terribly saddened by this event," Fishbein said.
