The first day of the 2015-16 Ridgewood school year is Sept. 2. A minimal day schedule will be in effect that day.

The key dates for the school year are:

  • Sept. 2 (minimal day)

Grades 1 through 5: 8:45 a.m to 12:45 p.m.

Middle School: 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

High School: 7:47 a.m. to 12:06 p..m.

Morning and afternoon kindergarten classes will be on a normal schedule that day.

  • Sept. 7 — Labor Day, schools closed
  • Sept. 14 — Rosh Hashanah, schools closed
  • Sept. 23 — Yom Kippur, schools closed
  • Oct. 12 — Professional development day, no school for students
  • Nov. 5 and 6 — NJEA convention, schools closed
  • Nov. 25 — minimal day
  • Nov. 26 and 27 — Thanksgiving recess
  • Dec. 23 — Minimal day
  • Dec. 24 through Jan. 1 — December recess
  • Jan. 18 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day, schools closed
  • Feb. 15 through 17 — February recess (includes Presidents’ Day)
  • March 25 — Good Friday, schools closed
  • March 28 — Profesional development day for staff
  • April 11 through 15 — Spring recess
  • May 30 — Memorial Day, schools closed
  • June 20 — Last day of instruction, minimal day. High school graduation.
  • June 21 — Last day for teachers.

Schools will be closed May 27 only if no snow days have been used. If more make-up days are required then the number of inclement weather days built into the calendar, they will be taken from Spring recess, beginning with April 11.
