Golden Hawks Baseball Hit Their Way to Victory

ORADELL - On Wednesday afternoon, the varsity Hawks Baseball team took to the diamond against Fair Lawn in a preseason scrimmage and walked away with a 6-1 win over the Cutters.

Senior Tim Barnes took to the mound and after quickly retiring the side, the Hawks bats took over as senior Evan Drummond blasted the first homerun of the day. Teammates Joey Schwartz and Danny Desiderio were also clutch at the plate.

Barnes noted that the team just has to take it play by play and do it by the numbers.

With just a few scrimmages under the team’s belt, they’re already off to a good start with one loss. It appears to be an exciting season ahead. The first game is on April 1st against Ramsey.

“I would say what the team would be most nervous for would be the first game,” Barnes said. “First game is against Ramsey, and they knocked us out of the playoffs last year. We just have to relax and play our game the way we can.”

As Senior Andrew Stengel keeps a positive outlook, he stated that “this season is a new beginning, and anything is possible for this team.”

To start off the season, on Monday at 4:15 PM the Hawks vs. the Rams at River Dell.
