River Dell's DJ Tirelli Wrestled His Way to Atlantic City
River Dell's Wrestling Team finished off their season in Atlantic City for the NJSIAA State Championship.

River Dell High School’s Wrestling Team had a great run this season, racking up a total record of 25 wins, and only two losses.
The Hawks were also lucky enough to have junior DJ Tirelli competing at 120 pounds and place third in the Region 2 tournament. Due to his success during the season, he competed in the NJ State Wrestling Tournament in Atlantic City this past weekend. He was the only wrestler from River Dell to attend.
DJ Tirelli was honored to have the chance to go to AC.

“I do wish I had a couple more teammates there to share the experience with me.”
Tirelli admitted that without the support from his teammates he wouldn’t have gotten far.

“I am lucky to have a great partner, Danny Lynch.” Tirelli said. “I would not be the wrestler I am today without him.”
As DJ Tirelli finished up his junior year down in AC, he has his senior year to look forward to next season. Admittedly, Tirelli said “It’s been a long year and I’m happy to finally be free and take a little break.”
In the first round of the NJSIAA State Championship, DJ Tirelli defeated Peter Ottaviano (Colts Neck), 8-6 but fell to Seton Hall Prep's Brenden Calas, 2-1 in the pre-quarterfinals.
He would then escape from Marcus Miraglia (Delran) in a sudden victory 10-8 on Saturday in the first wrestlebacks. However, in the second wrestleback, Tirelli’s final match of the season was against Salvatore Profaci (Monroe) and was pinned in 1:10.
Just for this season (2012-2013) Tirelli had an impressive total of 28 wins, four losses and 20 pins. For Tirelli’s career total to date, he has had a total of 36 wins, 11 losses and 22 pins.
With the influence of his teammates, and coaches Tirelli had a remarkable season. “My dad had a huge influence on me.” Tirelli shared.
Congratulations to DJ Tirelli, and the rest of the River Dell Wrestling Team for a phenomenal season.
