Comedic Icon Joan Rivers to Perform for Gilda’s Club NNJ

Public invited to 'Laugh Out Loud' at Bergen Academies in Hackensack, June 12

Joan Rivers, a force of nature, is coming to Hackensack, to deliver laughs for Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey.

Rivers will perform in Laugh Out Loud (LOL), a special comedy event to benefit the not-for-profit cancer support organization, on Sunday, June 12, 7 pm at the 1,200-seat Bergen Academies auditorium in Hackensack. Opening for Rivers is Buddy Fitzpatrick and Freddie Roman, president of New York City’s famed Friars Club, who will also emcee the event.

“We are delighted and thrilled to host Joan Rivers in a special performance this summer,” said Gilda’s Club Board President Ruth Dugan. “Laugh Out Loud will be a fabulous evening to remember and share hilarious laughs in the spirit of Gilda Radner.”

A true pioneer, Rivers created her own brand of unconventional comedy and forged her remarkable rise to stardom in show business. Her career skyrocketed when she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where soon after, she made television history as the first sole guest host of The Tonight Show

Her highly-anticipated and critically-acclaimed documentary, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work premiered in theaters nationwide last summer and is currently available on DVD.

Recently, Rivers returned to E! Entertainment Television to host E! Fashion Police covering red carpet style for the annual awards season, as well as hosting the popular Fashion Policeweekly series on E! In addition, she and daughter Melissa star in WE tv’s reality series Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?,which has been picked up for a second season to air in January 2012.
