LACE IN THE WORLD

The Metropolitan Chapter of International Old Lacers, the

international organization dedicated to promoting interest in and

education about making  bobbin lace will present a demonstration in lacemaking.  Also on display are exhibits of bobbins. 

Bobbin lace is made with the use of bobbins which are wooden,

spool-like spindles and straight pins. Before bobbins, bone was used

instead; the lace was  once called fishbone lace. It won’t surprise

readers also to learn that the  hedgehog is the mascot of organization

because of its pin cushion-like  appearance
