Alice and Company Entertain Through Misadventure As "Wonderland" is Presented at Knollwood School
The sounds of music and laughter filled the air as the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Performing Arts Troupe of Knollwood School in Fair Haven presented "Wonderland" to a packed house on the evening of February 27.
Encouraging audiences to "take a trip through the magic looking glass," "Wonderland" presents the musical misadventures of a girl named Alice and is based on the novel "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll.
"Wonderland" tells the story of young Alice, who ventures into an exciting but strange new world where zany characters convince her that she must become Queen. Alice eventually attains her goal with their help, but realizes upon her return home that the fun adventures along the way were far important than any crown.
The Knollwood School production featured Shannon Bogardus in the lead role of Alice.
Cameron Spector portrayed the Red King, and Kathryn Medrow starred as the Red Queen. The role of the White King was played by Calvin Bruno, and Emma Singleton was featured as the White Queen.
Jake Rallo lent his voice to the role of the Troubador.
Also featured were singing and dancing performances including those of "The Dixie Chickens" -- Anna Phillips, Lisa Sandoli, and Caitlin Carr -- and "The Responsibilities" -- Nicole Everett, Lisa Sandoli, Nora Doonan, and Jake Rallo.
The supporting cast was comprised of over 30 students. Additionally, over 40 students provided artwork, sound and lighting, props, set design, and more for the rollicking production.
Eighth grade Literacy teacher Gabrielle Illiano and seventh grade Literacy teacher Leigh-Anne Hawkins directed the production, and fifth grade teacher Kristen Levy served as Technical Director.
Art teacher Robert Zupko acted as Art Director, and Knollwood Music Director Vince Mottern provided musical direction for the Troupe's production.
