Authorities Rule Rumson Mansion Fire Accidental
Blaze that heavily damaged the Blithewald estate began in a wall in a guest bedroom, officials say
The fire that ripped through a historic Rumson mansion earlier this week began in a wall behind a guest bedroom and bathroom on the second floor, according to app.com
The four-alarm fire broke out at 76 Buena Vista Avenue at roughly 12:54 pm. It took firefighters from multiple Monmouth County fire companies to extinguish the blaze at 6:30 p.m., Charles Webster, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
No firefighters or civilians were injured, he said.

The home has extensive damage to the second and third floors and water damage throughout the house, Webster has said.
The Rumson Police Department, Rumson Fire Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Sea Bright, Little Silver, Asbury Park, Middletown , Red Bank, Highlands, Atlantic Highlands, Tinton Falls and Shrewsbury fire departments responded.
