Canterbury Art Show in Rumson Featuring Local Artists

Canterbury Art Show at St. George's-by-the-River will feature expanded opportunities to enjoy the work of local talented artists.

This year’s Canterbury Art Show will offer even more for local patrons of art to enjoy. A new Art from Artists Drawing will give attendees a chance to win a piece of art donated by many of the artists in the show each day. A number of talented artists will also take part in Artists-at-Work events on each day of the show. St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church’s Canterbury Art Show…a Tapestry of the Arts, a premier local exhibition and sale of juried and non-juried artwork, will take place Labor Day weekend August 29, 30 and 31 at St. George’s-by-the-River, 7 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson, New Jersey.

“The diversity and breadth of artists this year is overwhelming and truly inpiring,” said Canterbury Art Show committee member and Art from Artists chair Carole Rogers. “We’re so grateful to those artists who have contributed to our drawing. Their generousity will help us to increase the donations we make to the thirty local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean counties which we give to each year, including Lunch Break, Family Promise, HABcore, 180 Turning Lives Around and more.”

Each day, attendees will have the chance to purchase a chance drawing ticket and to place that ticket in a basket next to a donated piece of art of their choice. Tickets will be sold one ticket for $5, three tickets for $10 and eight tickets for $20. At the end of the day, a drawing wil be held and a winner chosen for each piece offered that day. Winners need not be present for the drawing. Artists who have donated pieces include (at press time) Joe Bergholm, Ruth Bie Brown, Karen Cohen, Frank Colaguori, Leslie Daley, Donna Gratkowski, Vicky Culver, Liz Hess, Joseph Imbesi, Sandra Jackowski, Tom Jackowski, Marge Levine, Colleen Lineberry, Michael Menendez, Eileen Petruch, MaryLou Shipman, Paula Shipman, Bonnie Smith, Cecilia Swatton, Sandra Thwaites, Brigitte Wachs, Anna Wainright, Denise Weiner, Kerri Zeblisky and Dianne Zeigler.

Many talented artists will also be taking part in special Artists-at-Work events. During the daytime show hours, artists will be painting and drawing on the church premises so that patrons are able to see the creative process in action. “It’s a great way for artists to engage with our art-loving patrons,” said Canterbury Art Show committee member and Artist-at-Work chair

Liz Hess. “Our attendees in the past have told us that it’s great to see our fabulous artists at work.” Artists who will be taking
part in the Artists-at-Work segments (at press time) will include Lisa Grob, Sandra Jackowski, Marge Levine and Sandra Thwaites.
