Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

Steeped in gospel, soul and funk, Sharon Jones' voice evokes Tina Turner's power, Mavis Staples' soul, and James Brown's swagger, and the 8-piece Dap-Kings recall the great Detroit, Philly and Southern soul bands.  Renowned for an incredible live show, their new release is I Learned the Hard Way (2010). Recorded on an old eight-track tape machine, it has a warmth and spontaneity rarely found today.
