FH Lake Avenue Project Bid to be Awarded

The project will be underway once bids are opened and awarded

In line with keeping the on schedule, the Fair Haven Borough Council has called a special meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. to open bids and award one for the project.

“(Regarding) the Lake Avenue project notice to bid (for bidders), the timing of that was such that a review from NJDOT (NJ Department of Transportation) did not come back to the borough engineer prior to us already advertising and having bid packets ready,” Borough Administrator Theresa Casagrande noted at Monday night’s council meeting.

In order to keep the project on schedule, she added, the bid needs to be awarded by a Sept. 14 deadline.

A change in the bid packet was also impetus for the emergency meeting. The bidders needed to be advised of the slight change. “Even though it would not change anyone’s bottom line on the bid, it had to be added to the bid spec,” Casagrande said. “The small addendum to the bid packet had to do with adding an adjustment for asphalt and fuel as a firm, fixed price.”

Once the bid is awarded, the project will be underway, Mayor Ben Lucarelli had said.
