Gary Casazza seeking re-election to Rumson Borough Council

Gary Casazza is seeking re-election to Rumson Borough Council. The right candidate with the experience needed to lead Rumson's future.

Gary Casazza and his wife Vivian have lived in Rumson for over 40 years and have three daughters and
eight grandchildren. Gary has shown a commitment to the local community, by serving on the Rumson
Board of Education, the Rumson Planning Board and currently as a Rumson Council member for over 32
years. Gary wants to preserve Rumson’s character and steadfast economic structure, while cautiously
looking for change that may further improve the needs and desires of the community. He believes in
maintaining the values that make Rumson the special place that it is.
Gary and the Council are focused on spending resident’s tax dollars prudently and keeping the tax rate
in Rumson steady for the last several years, while maintaining the same level of services our residents
have become accustomed to. During Gary’s tenure, the Mayor and Council have focused on
strengthening infrastructure, enhancing community amenities and maintaining responsible governance
while preserving the character and quality of life in the Borough of Rumson.
Gary serves on the Police, Engineering and Construction Committees. His finance, construction and
management background and experience were instrumental in implementing the town’s sanitary sewer
rehabilitation program which significantly reduced costs. This important initiative ensures continued
service and system longevity.
In addition, the annual road program addressed many miles of Borough roads during Gary’s tenure.
Borough roads were resurfaced and frequently included new curbs, sidewalks and stormwater drainage
pipe replacements. The Borough has been awarded nearly $2.8M in grant funds to defer the program
cost. Gary was also influential in upgrading Borough lighting, heating and cooling equipment to energy
efficient standards, also funded by a 75% NJBPU grant.
Gary prides himself on being instrumental in upgrading Meadowridge, Piping Rock, Rogers and Victory
Parks during his tenure. The Borough was awarded Monmouth County Grant funds of $718k to help
offset those costs.
During Gary’s last term, the Mayor and Council successfully navigated the complex issue of Affordable
Housing and were granted approval for the 4th round through 2035.
Most importantly, Gary is part of a team that helps maintain a Borough tax levy increase of an average
of 2.96% per year. Responsible budgeting and infrastructure investment contribute to Rumson
maintaining an AAA Moody’s rating and supporting the Borough’s long-term financial health.
Gary is truly grateful to the Rumson community for allowing him to help lead the town of Rumson and
feels that it has been a privilege and an honor serving as a Rumson councilman. Gary respectfully asks
for your support and vote in the upcoming primary election so he can continue the work that has helped
keep Rumson strong, financially stable and true to its character. He looks forward to building on the
foundation that has been laid while continuing to serve the community with integrity, experience and
dedication.
