Rumson BOE Newcomer Wins Seat; Incumbents Sweep R-FH BOE, Council

The unofficial 2012 election results are in from the Monmouth County Board of Elections for Rumson.

A newcomer to the Rumson Board of Education race has won his first full term to the board.

William Loughran, Rumson resident and principal of Holmdel High School won his first Board of Education seat, beating incumbent Alitia Faccone with 1,368 votes, the second highest number of votes cast. The top vote-getter was incumbent John Connors, with 1,590 votes. Incumbent Margaret Simons garnered the third highest number of votes with 1,337. Faccone won 796 votes.

Filling the two-year unexpired term of Colleen Hodge will be incumbent Maura Beyer, who was recently appointed to Hodge's seat. Beyer, who was required to run in the election to officially win Hodge's unexpired term, garnered 1,227 votes, or 65.41 percent of the votes. Challenger for the unexpired term, Russell Binns, won 646 votes, or 34.43 percent of the votes.

In the contested race for Borough Council, incumbents Mark E. Rubin and Frank E. Shanley have won with 2,059 and 2,235 votes, or 40.32 and 43.76 percent, respectively.

Democratic challenger Philip Wagner garnered 809 votes, or 15.84 percent. There were four write-in votes.

Rumson delegate to the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board of Education race, uncontested incumbent Teresa M. Liccardi, won a new full three-year term to the board with 1,831 votes. There were 11 write-ins.

Winner for the one-year unexpired term on the R-FH Board of Education was uncontested incumbent James Wassell with 1,860 votes. There were nine write-ins.
